In The Beginning

David Nicholls began training in 1992. After a successful career as a jockey he decided to turn his hand to training, and what a decision this has proved to be. David started training with only 5 horses with the help of his wife, champion lady Jockey Alex Greaves, he now has around 100 under his care.

David has trained winners of many of the top sprint races, including:-

• The Ayr Gold Cup five times with Continent, Bahamian Pirate, Funfair Wane (twice) and Regal Parade (he also trained the second to Regal Parade too - Tajneed).
• The Nunthorpe twice with Ya Malak and Bahamian Pirate.
• The July Cup and the Prix L'Abbaye in the same year with Continent.
• The Vodafone Epsom Dash with Rudi's Pet, Atlantic Viking and Fire Up The Band. 
• The Wokingham with Lafi.
• The Stewards Cup with Gift Horse. 
• The Gosforth Park Cup three times with Rudi's Pet, Peace Offering and Buachaill Dona. 
• The Great St. Wilfrid with Ice Planet and Tajneed (he had the second both years he won as well with Pieter Brueghel and Valery Borzov respectively).
• The Scurry (Curragh) with Machinist.
• The Rockingham Handicap (Curragh) twice with Awake and Masta Plasta.
• The Buckingham Palace Stakes with Regal Parade.

For The Future


In 2008 David trained the winners of 74 races, earning over 1.1 million sterling in prize money. He saddled the winners of races in France and Ireland as well as at home. He also trained the winners of 7 two-year-old only races earning over £71,000 with his two-year-olds alone. David set a new record this year when training his fifth winner of the prestigious Ayr Gold Cup in nine years. He has also enjoyed success in the Buckingham Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot, the Great St Wilfrid, the Gosforth Park Cup, The Rockingham Handicap at the Curragh and a handful of Group and Listed races. Be part of the David Nicholls success story, join him and his team in the next chapter and become a winner.
